I don't know about you, but I hate posing for the camera. There is nothing natural about "sit here and smile." My sessions are anything but that. We run, we laugh, we jump, we twirl, and I make a fool of myself trying not to fall over while I demonstrate it all to you. I guide you through all of it, so no need to be a natural model. If you can have fun with my prompts, or at least have fun laughing at me, you'll be a natural before you know it!

Is someone in your family or group neurodivergent? Fantastic! Me too! I'll take the lead so you can just be in the moment with your people.

We cannot recommend Erin enough. She came to our home for newborn photos and made us feel comfortable the whole time in front of the camera. She was patient with our newborn and was so personable throughout the process. She even provided sneak peaks just hours after taking them! AI - do you love it, or do you hate it?

As some of you know, in my other career, I am an English teacher, so I am leery of AI for most things and quite honestly don't trust it. I have to thank AI, however, for bringing me these two lovely people straight from Tennessee. Susan and Sunjit were visiting Southern New Hampshire on their New England fall trip, and while they were in Nashua, they wanted pictures to remember their time here. They asked ChatGPT for Nashua photographers, and my name came up. Susan reached out from there, and we met up at Mine Falls Park in Nashua to capture some of the fall colors before they headed up to Maine to explore the coastline. These two were naturals in front of the camera, and I had the best time chatting with them about their travels and the great food they could eat at each of their stops. I am so fortunate to get to meet so many amazing people through my photo sessions. I certainly hope they come back to the area again soon!

Welcome to Favorite Friday, where I post one of my favorite images and share why I love it!

Today, I am sharing this image from Amanda and Sam's wedding. This was mid-dance floor, and I love how Amanda is looking at Sam. The pure emotion of the night, of the whole wedding day, is in the little moments. I think there is also something about the juxtaposition of this quiet, loving moment between my bride and groom and the big, bold, colorful world around them, like there is no one else there but them. I love getting in the middle dance floor to get the real vibe of everything.

This day has always stood for the memory of an important man and important life lessons, but with the cruelty and asinine injustices happening in the world right now, it's hitting a lot harder. Life isn't black and white; people deserve to live, and they deserve to live in the full color that they truly are. Seniors aren't boring, and their portraits shouldn't be either.

Meet Ziggy, one of the absolute coolest members of the class of 2026! Ziggy is anything but boring. Why, you ask? Exhibit A: Bass player - and the bass has a name. Exhibit B: Chose a location that was anything but basic. Exhibit C: Modeled like it was a life calling.

This whole session was so incredibly fun. Ziggy was up for just about anything I suggested and came up with even more to play into it. I am a huge proponent of having seniors bring pieces with them that are special, like instruments, sports, or hobbies, and Ziggy's bass was the perfect touch.

Bridal showers deserve to be captured by a photographer. Every person there deserves to get to have time to relax, enjoy, and sink into celebrating the couple getting married, not be worried about whether photos are being taken by this person or that person.

Ali was a smart cookie and asked if I could capture her bridal shower in September. I happily agreed and got to be a part of all of the love that surrounds Ali and her fiancé, Ben. The shower was filled with laughter, games, and delicious treats. There were so many personal touches and so many people who clearly love Ali and Ben. I cannot wait to photograph their wedding later this spring!

Goals! How many of you set goals for the new year? While I am not big on doing strict resolutions at the beginning of each new year, I do like to set goals for my photography. So let's share what I want to do in 2026, shall we?

1. I want to photograph at least one wedding in every single state! For any state outside of New England that I haven't photographed a wedding in (hint: that's all of them!), I am only charging travel for a full day of coverage. Yep, a full day of wedding photography coverage for just the cost of getting me there and back. If you know anyone in another state, please send them my way!

2. I want to add in more behind the scenes video footage to show potential clients what my photo sessions are like. Will they hear me say "Cute!" a lot? Yes. Will they get to know my relaxed, supportive, laughter-filled style better? Also yes.

3. More elopements! Gosh I love elopements. I love how much time you can focus on just the couple, how everything is stripped down, how magical it can be with just the couple. I would love to get to photograph so many more of these unions, especially in adventurous, beautiful areas.

4. I want to add in highlight films for engagement sessions and weddings. I'm taking still photos, and I would love to get the movement of the moment so that you can relive it in a new way.

5. I want to add in more detail photos and more black and white photos. When I admire other photographers' work, I am drawn to the details that help tell the whole story. Some of my favorite sessions have been the ones where I have done more of this, so let's add more in! For black and whites, they are classic and timeless. I love them, and I want to feature them more.

At the end of August, I got to be a part of something that has been on my bucket list for photography for a long time, and I am still so obsessed with the vibe of the whole day, I'm going to split the post into two.

Back in July, I saw a post on a local Facebook page from a bridge looking for a photographer who would be comfortable photographing her wedding on a schooner. I replied immediately, as this has been something on my wish list for a long time. The water, the wedding, the challenge of a small space filled with emotions? Yes, yes, yes please! Kayla reached out, and our planning was put into motion.

Kayla and Shawn are one of the sweetest couples, and their wedding planning were anything but ordinary. You see, Kayla had no idea when they were getting married. She knew it was happening, but the date was a secret. The plan was to have her wake up in the morning and Shawn would ask her if she wanted to get married that day (of course she would say yes!). My job was to keep the date a secret and to photograph the "reception" on the schooner.

The secret date was Saturday, August 23, and the weather was gorgeous. Hurricane Erin was just off the coast and was making some dramatic waves and winds, but no rain in sight. I met up with Kayla, Shawn, and their loved ones at the Portland Schooner Company, we loaded the schooner, and we set off to celebrate their wedding with the waves, golden hour, lobster rolls, and champagne.

Apparently it is International Student Day, and there is nothing more appropriate that I can post than this senior session. Meet Trinity, class of 2026! If you have been around for a bit, Trinity may look familiar from my winter urban session a couple of years ago. She is now in her senior year, and she wanted something different, something original, and something felt like her. So where did we go? To the woods!

Trinity is a creative, beautiful soul who did not want the same backdrop as everyone else for her senior pictures, so we went to one of my very favorite woodland spots: Tucker Brook Town Forest. Normally, when we aren't in a drought, this would have an amazing waterfall, but even with very little water, the forest did not disappoint. One thing that I love that Trinity did was bring a range of outfits. Not only does that give her a variety of photos later, but it helps set the mood for each spot we stop in. We used the fields, the woods, and the waterfall area. And yes, she was brave and got in the water! I had so much fun with Trinity and her mom. Happy senior year, Trinity!

Late summer weddings just hit different. The light stays out longer, the air is warm and emotions just seem to hang in it, and the flowers are at their peak. Pam and Cam knew they wanted to have late summer as their setting, and did they ever hit it just right. I met Pam and Cam just as 2024 was starting, and I could tell two things right away: these two were perfect for each other, and their wedding was going to be thoughtful, fun, and organized. Every part of those observations was true.

August 15 was a beautiful summer day. Pam and Cam chose to get married at the Evermore at Peirce Farm Estate in Topsfield, MA, and the campus was glowing. Every detail had personal significance. It was important to Pam to have a first look with her brothers and with Cam, so we arranged the schedule so that she had plenty of time to relax and feel her feelings with each person. We also made sure to allow for time at cocktail hour. Why put all of the work into the details if you can't enjoy them? The ceremony was on the lawn in front of the estate just before golden hour, followed by the reception in the most gorgeous open-beam, converted carriage house. There was never once a stop in the laughter all day. Every guest, every bridal party member, every family member was full of joy and well wishes for Cam and Pam. It was the most beautiful day for the most beautiful people!

Fall might be winding down, but my creative ideas for photo sessions are not! I would love to make a couple more sessions happen before winter this year, and I am looking for some models! Interested? Check out what I am looking for:

1. I'm On a Boat - one or two adults, need to be able to bring the canoe or rowboat with you
I would love to get to do a photo session with one person or a couple in a rowboat or canoe. Imagine romantic shots of two people in the river, trees in the background, no one around but them. This could also work for one person who is confident in front of the camera.

2. Lights, Camera, Action - one or two adults
I am loving the direct flash look lately, and I want to hone in on my take on it. For this, I would love one or two people to come with me to roam around as it gets dark to get some direct flash shots. This would be really cool for people who are looking to get some edgier, perhaps moodier photos with a significant other. You must be able to be in front of a flash.

In exchange for your modeling, you will receive a fully edited gallery and full printing rights to those photos. I do ask that you be comfortable in front of a camera, willing to take direction, and that if you are bringing a partner, they are comfortable and willing as well. I will also be giving suggestions for wardrobe to get a certain aesthetic.

Meet Anthony, class of 2026! Anthony wanted an urban vibe for his photos, so we took to downtown Nashua on a beautiful afternoon. Nashua has a lot of different textures and images to offer as backdrops, and Anthony was the perfect model for all of it. He came in with a lot of ideas and the vibe he wanted for his photos, which was perfect. I love making seniors' photos represent them and their interests. This is where they are in their lives right now, so why not highlight it? We ended up walking a good portion of Nashua and got some great photos of the journey. Thank you, Anthony! I like to show you all who you are getting as a photographer, so here’s an update! Since May, I have been training for my first ultramarathon. An ultramarathon is anything longer than 26.2 miles (a marathon. I was going for a 50km, which is 31 miles. This Saturday night, I made it happen at the Ghost Train Trail Race in the middle of the woods in New Hampshire in 7 hours, 22 minutes, and 48 seconds. We ran it in the dark, which was part of the fun, and the trail was decorated with glowing pumpkins, friendly spiders, and the best volunteers and fellow runners. The best husband in the world was my pacer and support system for the second half, handling it all, even when all of my light sources (headlamp, chest lamp, AND phone) died at the exact same time. 😂 I am still walking like a zombie, but I want to tell you to get out there and do something that scares you, even if that’s just taking family photos. You never know what you’ll be able to do!

Meet Hunter, class of 2026! Hunter is going into his senior year in Michigan this year, and while his family was visiting Massachusetts, they joined me to have his senior portraits done at Salisbury Reservation State Park in Salisbury, MA, a beach that is incredibly meaningful to their extended family. Hunter is actually the fourth of five cousins to have their senior photos taken at Salisbury Reservation State Park (cousin 1 escaped the beach because of Covid), so we had to make sure to capture him in a way that showed who he was and what made him shine. I had so much fun walking up and down the beach with Hunter! The waves were incredible; Hurricane Erin was just off the coast and was stirring everything up (because with a name like Erin, why wouldn't you?), making it extra dramatic. Hopefully, Hunter's senior year is less dramatic but just as spectacular as the waves!

A few weeks before Amy and Alex's wedding, I sent an email out to my 2025 wedding couples to see if anyone would like to do a photo session after their wedding on the beach. I like to spoil my couples as much as I can, and I really wanted the opportunity to do some bridal portraits in a different location, one where we couple get them interacting in a beautiful setting. Amy emailed me and asked if I would be willing to do a session at a waterfall in Stowe instead. A waterfall? Say no more! We met up the day after their wedding, hiked into the waterfall, and let the fun begin. These two not only were willing to hike in in their outfits but to hike through the water and climb up the waterfall. We had so much fun getting some epic wedding photos. On the way out, I spotted a driveway that had the most beautiful wildflower field next to it (thanks, random person who had no idea we were there!), so we stopped for a quick couple of shots before it was time to head home from our wedding in Stowe.

Stowe, Vermont, is a magnificent location no matter what time of year. When Amy and Alex contacted me to photograph their wedding in Stowe at the beginning of August, I knew it was going to be gorgeous. Not only was it beautiful, it was packed with details that captured them as a couple. Amy and Alex love Disney, so there were so many nods to their favorite movies throughout the decor and outfits. And the magic, oh, the magic. You cannot have a Disney themed wedding without the magic! These two were so present with each other and their guests throughout the day, and they looked every bit like the princess and prince in their own fairytale.

No summer would be complete without a trip to the beach, and when one of my favorite families invites me to come take pictures, I will jump at the chance. Aleesa, her family, and I first met when she was visiting her mom when her sweet daughter was just about three months old. Now she is a spunky, energetic two year old who loves to run, dig, and pick up all of the seashells! It is always a joy to get to see families grow older, especially with the little kiddos. "It’s looking like there’s a chance of at least some rain on Saturday. Would you still be able to photograph if we did the ceremony not under the tent?"

This is what Amanda emailed me on Wednesday, three days before her wedding. It was supposed to rain all day on Saturday. Their wedding was to take place in an open field. Could I photograph the wedding in the pouring rain without a tent? Of course I can, and I did. And we could not have had a better, more mystical (mist-ical?), more magical day.

Sam and Amanda were married at the end of June at the beautiful Sweet Meadow Wedding and Events venue in Durham, Maine. There had always been a backup rain plan in place, but when the final forecast came out, Amanda and Sam wanted to have the ceremony in the field because, after all, that's why they picked this location. I am always up for embracing every part of the experience, and embrace it they did. The rain was kind enough to be more of a mist for most of the day, and people came dressed for the weather. It gave the whole day a cozy, adventurous vibe that would be near impossible to replicate. Every part of the day was filled with laughter, music, nods to Taylor Swift, and so many personal touches, including "doggy bags" for take-home treats with their dog's face on them. At the end of the night, they even danced a hole in the floor. People say that rain on your wedding day is good luck, but I think Amanda and Sam are already the luckiest people in the world for finding each other.

It was the perfect evening when I met with Ali and Ben for their engagement photos. These two are getting married in spring of 2026, and they wanted to do their engagement session this summer. We decided to give Maudslay State Park in Newburyport, MA, a try, and it was the most beautiful setting. We hit golden hour just right and played in the gardens before going back to the open field to have a picnic. The picnic was a fun way to add some variety into their session, and it gave them a break from all of the running around I had them doing!

I am so excited to photograph their wedding next year!
